Short answer: Not supported
Vintage themes refer to all theme versions preceding Online Store 2.0 compatibility. If you are using a theme version released before the new theme architecture was implemented, Theme Updater Plus Pro plan features are limited to minimal content migration.

What can Theme Updater Plus do for vintage themes?
Theme Updater Plus with an active Pro Plan can only transfer certain global settings to the latest version, such as Colors and Typography configurations. Content added through the theme editor (to sections, templates, etc.) cannot transfer to the new theme architecture.
Why is this?
The latest theme architecture, Online Store 2.0, is "the biggest and boldest upgrade" to the Shopify platform and involved substantial changes to how themes are built.
Liquid to JSON templates
The key obstacle for Theme Updater Plus when updating from vintage themes is replacing the former Liquid templates with JSON templates. The contents and code language are too distinct for the app to migrate content effectively.

Do I have to rebuild my theme?
We advise starting fresh with an Online Store 2.0-compatible version for the best results.
Installing a default copy of the latest theme version
After this is complete, your theme will be fully compatible with Theme Updater Plus's full suite of Pro Plan features.
