The top section of your home page is your store's most valuable real estate. To make the most of it, merchants often use a Slideshow section to showcase their most recent deals and top-selling products. Prepare up to five slides with Startup's Slideshow section, each with unique messaging and images.
Add a Slideshow section to your home page
- In the theme editor (Customize), click (+) Add section
- Locate Slideshow
- Click the section, then Add

Click the Slideshow section to open its general settings.
Shadows on text elements
If the font color and image are too similar, consider adding a text shadow to your messaging by enabling the Show shadows on text elements feature.
Layout
Select Content width or Full width from the Layout dropdown to control the horizontal size of the slideshow.
Slide height
Select an option from the Desktop slide height to limit your slideshow's height to 400px, 500px, or 600px. Select Original aspect ratio to expand to the proportional height of the image.
For mobile devices, select an option from Mobile slide height to limit the slideshow height to 300px, 400px, or 500px. Select Original aspect ratio to expand to the proportional height of the image.
Slide transition controls
Select Auto-rotate slides to cycle through the slides automatically. Disable this and the customers can manually click through the sequence of slides.
Have your slides slide horizontally, or fade in and out, by selecting an option from Transition.
Use the Change slides every slider to control how long a slide is visible.
Customize slide blocks
Click to open one of the preloaded Slideshow blocks. Add more slides by clicking (+) Add Slide.
Add image
Upload the images you want to use by clicking Select Image in the slide block
Use images that are at least 1400px wide to get the best results
Image focal point
Select an option from the Image focal point dropdown to arrange the image's position in the slide container.
The options are:
- Top
- Center
- Bottom
- Left
- Right
Add text and link
Add the slide's Heading, Subheading, Text, Button text, and Link URL using the provided fields.
Text position
Select an option from Text position to adjust the layout for the headings and button.
Add overlay
Increase contrast between the text and image by enabling the Overlay. Select two distinct colors for the Overlay color and Overlay text color.
Then use the Overlay opacity slider to adjust the opacity for the overlay. Move the slider to the right to increase opacity or the left to increase transparency.
Include a video instead of images
Merchants often want a video front-and-center for their storefront. If this is the case for your store, consider disabling the Slideshow section (deselect Enable slideshow), then add and position a Video section in its place.
