Grid includes a Masonry blog template that displays your blog posts in a masonry-style layout. This creates a more visual blog index page by arranging your posts in a grid-based layout.
The Masonry template applies to the blog page that lists your posts. It does not change the layout of individual blog posts.
Apply the Masonry template to your blog
- Go to Content
- Open Blog posts
- Manage blogs
- Select the blog
- Online store
- In the bottom-right corner, select masonry from the Theme template dropdown
- Save
Visit the blog on your storefront to confirm that the Masonry layout is displaying as expected.
Why don’t I see the Masonry template?
The templates available in the Theme template menu are based on the templates included with your currently published theme.
If masonry doesn’t appear as an option, confirm that Grid is your published theme.
If you’re preparing or customizing an unpublished copy of Grid, the Masonry template might be available in that theme but won’t appear as an option for assignment in the Shopify admin until the theme containing the template is published.
Template availability can also vary depending on your theme version.
Customize your blog layout
After assigning the template, you can preview and customize your blog through the theme editor:
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
- Find Grid and click Edit theme.
- Use the page selector at the top of the theme editor to open your blog.
- Review the available sections and settings for the blog template.
- Make your changes, then click Save.
The sections and settings available depend on your version of Grid.
Masonry blog template vs. Masonry section
The Masonry blog template and Masonry section are different features in Grid.
The Masonry blog template controls the layout of your blog index page, where your published blog posts are displayed.
The Masonry section is a separate theme section that can be added to supported templates. It can display images, text, and links in a masonry-style grid.
