If you’ve enabled image zoom in the Atlantic theme but the zoom effect isn’t appearing on your product page, check your product image dimensions and theme settings.
For image zoom to work correctly, product images must meet the minimum size requirements.
Check your product image size
Product images must be at least 1600px wide for Atlantic’s image zoom feature to activate.
If an image is smaller than the required width, the product page can still display the image normally, but customers won’t be able to use the zoom feature.
For best results, use large, high-quality product images. Shopify recommends 2048 × 2048px for square product images.
Note: The 1600px width is the minimum requirement for Atlantic’s image zoom feature. You don’t need to resize images to exactly 1600px if they’re already larger.
Confirm image zoom is enabled
Next, confirm that image zoom is enabled for the product template you’re using.
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
- Find the Atlantic theme you want to edit, then select Edit theme.
- Use the page selector at the top of the Theme Editor to open Products > Default product or the product template you want to edit.
- Open the section containing your product information and media.
- Confirm that the image zoom setting is enabled.
- Select Save.
If you use multiple product templates, check the settings for the template assigned to the affected product.
Check whether the issue affects specific images or products
If image zoom works for some products but not others, compare the affected product images.
Check whether:
- The affected images are at least 1600px wide.
- Other images on the same product support zoom.
- Products where zoom works use larger images.
- The affected product uses a different product template.
If only smaller images are affected, replacing them with higher-resolution versions should allow the zoom feature to appear.
Check the product media type
Image zoom applies to supported product images.
Shopify product galleries can also contain other media types, including videos and 3D models. These media types use their own controls and won’t behave like zoomable product images.
If you’re testing the feature, make sure you’re viewing a product image.
Test the theme without customizations
If your product images meet the size requirements and image zoom is enabled but the feature still doesn’t appear, a theme customization or third-party app may be affecting the product gallery.
To help isolate the cause, you can test the same product using an unmodified copy of Atlantic.
If image zoom works correctly in the unmodified theme, this usually indicates that a customization or app integration in your existing theme is interfering with the feature.
Avoid making changes to your live theme while troubleshooting. Test changes in an unpublished theme copy first.
