Each Shopify theme in Pixel Union's catalog includes language controls, accessed through the Edit languages settings. Superstore goes beyond this by offering an additional 21 languages to select from.
Use the theme editor to access the language settings and choose another language set. If you're interested in having multiple languages for customers to select, this would require the addition of an app.
Access the language settings
In the Online Store, locate the Superstore theme and select Actions > Edit languages
This dashboard can be used to change the text portions of your storefront. The provided fields allow merchants to include alternative English text or their own manual translations.
Avoid translating the words wrapped by double brackets (e.g. {{ quantity }}) since these are connected to dynamic content that needs to remain in the default language
Choose another language set
In the Edit languages settings, select Change theme language.
The Change theme language link will only be available if Superstore is the published theme. Publish the theme to select a new language set for the theme.
Select one of the following language sets:
- Chinese (Simplified)
- Chinese (Traditional)
- Czech
- Danish
- English [default]
- Finnish
- French
- German
- Hindi
- Italian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Malay
- Norwegian
- Polish
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Portuguese (Portugal)
- Spanish
- Swedish
- Thai
- Turkish
Will these language sets work with multi-language?
Not completely, as the theme can only provide translations for the theme-based elements of the store. For example, the product descriptions (added through the admin) would need an additional app to translate.
